MODEL 4400 Quadra-Disk
Planter ©
The Model 4400 Quadra-Disk Planter is designed to plant as
accurately as possible, regardless of field conditions. The Quadra-Disk
system is a unique arrangement of four disks. Two 16" opening
disks have a staggered offset design. The opening disks are followed
by a pair of 18" closing disks which overlap the opener
disks. The closing disks catch all the soil from the openers,
and also slice off additional warm surface soil to fully cover
the seed. Guage wheels provide positive depth control of the
closing disks. The gauge wheels, a walking beam design, follow
field contours closely for still greater planting depth accuracy.
A Soil-Cap firming wheel lightly caps the soil over the seed
trench. This seed to soil contact holds moisture and warmth to
improve germination. The Quadra-Disk system takes complete charge
of both the soil flow, and the important function of protecting
the seed in the drop zone while assuring proper depth control.
The result is greater accuracy of seed placement, for faster
seed germination and a more even growth pattern.
